Wellness Care

We provide extensive wellness plans tailor-made for each individual patient and his or her lifestyle. This includes annual examinations, vaccinations, parasite and infectious disease screening, and blood work.
Parasite & Infectious Disease Screening:
  • Intestinal Parasite Exam (fecal): This test allows us to screen for intestinal worms that may be present in your cat or dog. Intestinal parasites may cause diarrhea, weight loss, changes in hair coat, or vomiting. Detection allows us to treat appropriately.
  • Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasmosis Screening Test (DOGS): This test allows us to check for heartworm disease and three major infectious diseases that are spread by ticks with only a few drops of your pet’s blood.
  • Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (CATS): With just a small sample of blood, this test allows us to check for these immuno-suppressing diseases that can create lifelong health issues for our cats.
Vaccinations: Vaccines are important part of protecting our pets from disease. This is our greatest tool for disease prevention. Our doctors will come up with a vaccine plan that best fits the lifestyle of your cat or dog to help protect them from diseases they may encounter. The vaccines that we offer are listed below.
DOGS:
  • DHPP (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus)
  • Leptospirosis
  • Lyme disease
  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
  • Canine Influenza
  • Rabies
CATS:
  • FVRCP (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia)
  • Feline Leukemia
  • Rabies
Examinations: Our doctors will carefully examine all of your pet's body systems to detect any problems that may be occurring and to assess their overall health.

Anesthesia

Pets have to be put under anesthesia for a variety of reasons, and our doctors do their best to make sure that your pet has a safe anesthetic episode. They use the best possible combination of drugs and individualize each protocol to that particular patient based on exam, risk factors, and blood work. We also have excellent monitoring capabilities to carefully watch over your pet during anesthesia. These include ECG, pulse oximeter, fluid pumps, and blood pressure monitoring devices to maintain an even plane of anesthesia.

Dentistry

Maintaining the health of your pet's teeth and gums is extremely important to maintaining their overall health. We have excellent dental equipment that allows us to fully evaluate and take care of any dental issues. Our equipment and procedures are similar to what you might experience with a dental cleaning at your dentist. Our routine dentals include dental radiographs, cleaning, and polishing. We are also able to perform extractions of diseased teeth.
  • Dental Radiographs (x-rays): These radiographs allow us to evaluate the teeth under the gum line. They allow us to look for root abscesses, cavities, fractures, loss of bone, or root resorption.
  • Dental Cleaning: We both hand scale and use an ultrasonic scaler to clean the surface of your pet’s teeth and under the gum line. This allows us to remove the tartar, plaque, and calculus deposits on the teeth.
  • Dental Polishing: We have a high speed polisher and use a dental prophy paste to polish the teeth and help prevent tartar from accumulating so quickly in the future. This part of the process also helps to give your cat or dog fresh breath.
  • Extractions: We have capabilities to do both simple or surgical extractions based on the needs of the animal and the disease process of the teeth. Surgical extractions may involve creating a gingival flap, sectioning the tooth with a high speed drill, and using winged elevators to remove individual roots.

Boarding & Bathing

Our boarding animals are housed individually although dogs from the same family may be boarded together at the request of the family. Dogs are turned out into a fenced lot individually several times a day. We provide bedding, water, and Purina EN to all dogs, but you are welcome to bring bedding, toys, treats, or food from home.
  • CATS: We have a separate cat room removed from the dog area for cat boarding. Cats are housed individually. We provide litter boxes, water, and food, but you may bring any of these items from home as well.

Microchipping

Black puppy pug dog sitting on wooden chair with light of sunset.
Each year millions of lost and abandoned animals are taken in by animal welfare organizations throught the US. A very small percentage of those lost pets are actually reunited with their family. The major reason for failing to reunite a lost pet with its owner is because the pets are unidentifiable. Microchipping offers pet owners the only truely permanent method of identifying your pet and linking the animal back to you. If you want to improve your pet's chances of getting home in a a lost-pet emergency -- microchipping is your best option.
We offer microchipping by appointment and an ideal time to do it is when your pet is spayed/neutered.

Spay & Neuter

We have appointments available for spays and neuters Monday through Friday. A spay refers to the removal of the ovaries and uterus from a female, and a neuter refers to the removal of the testicles from a male. These procedures are performed under general anesthesia. Pets undergoing these procedures are not required to stay overnight, but one night stay is included if needed. We routinely spay and neuter cats, dogs, rabbits and pigs. We can also castrate (neuter) horses, cows, and goats. Prices vary by weight, species and sex, so please call us to find out more information on the costs of these surgeries.

Euthanasia & Cremation

Close Up of Light Colored Puppy Paw
Sometimes one of the greatest gifts we can provide our pets is the relief of their suffering when they are unable to maintain a good quality of life. If this is the right decision for your pet, we can assist in their transition from life to death. If you have questions about the process or if this may be the right decision for your pet, please contact one of our doctors, and they can help to answer your questions.
We work with a local cremation service that provides individual cremation with return of the remains.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to create an image of internal structures inside the body. Ultrasonography allows for us to look at the architecture of an organ, which can be incredibly useful in diagnostics and treatment. It saves many lives each year. It is also safe, faster, and less costly than many other advanced imaging techniques.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is a cutting edge treatment that is an exciting advancement for the veterinary profession. Laser Therapy works on the cellular level, and can be thought of as bringing in good cells and removing bad ones. Photons stimulate endorphins and bring more blood to the area. It also reduces inflammation, increases cell division and accelerates tissue repair. It can be used to treat a variety of chronic or acute conditions, pain management, and is an integral part of recovery from injuries or surgery.
